A Litany for Peace

Read Romans 12:18; Hebrews 12:14; and Colossians 3:15.

One: O God, you have called us to live in peace with others …

All: … in our families, in our communities, and in our world. But what can we do?

One: We can spread your love and peace to all we meet …

All: … and show others how you want us to live.

One: We can be peacemakers in our families.

All: We can do our chores without complaining, stay calm when we’re angry, read to younger brothers and sisters, and help with housework.

One: We can be peacemakers in our communities.

All: We can respect others’ opinions, not cheat or lie to get what we want, collect toys and clothes for those who need them, and show kindness to all, even to those who are not kind back to us.

One: We can be peacemakers in our world.

All: We can sponsor a child in another country, write letters to important decision-makers, recycle and pick up litter, and pray for people who don’t know God.

One: We can be peacemakers.

All: Thank you, God!

Together Time: On a sheet of paper, list several things that each person in your family can do to help spread God’s love and peace. Hang the paper someplace where everyone can see it.

Prayer: Pray for those in the world who live in the midst of war and other violence.
